It’s been a minute since we talked about Mary Berry, hasn’t it? Well, get ready for that to change: Earlier this week, BBC teased a new trailer for her upcoming show, and it’s safe to say that Berry is back!
The 40-second spot teases her forthcoming show, Britain’s Best Home Cook, in which Berry (alongside restaurateur Dan Doherty and food entrepreneur Chris Bavin) will judge a cast of the country’s premier...well, home cooks. In the trailer, the show’s host, media personality Claudia Winkleman, makes her way through a series of kitchens, surprising—and confusing—the unassuming Brits cooking in each of them. See the clip for yourself:
The Mary Berry cameo is brief, just a few seconds at the end, but enough to get excited about having the baker extraordinaire back in her judging shoes. Not since the days of the Great British Baking Show have we seen her look so scrupulously at a piece of puff pastry. Berry departed from the franchise as it shifted away from the BBC. Considered essential to the show’s DNA, many mourned her presence on the family-favorite reality show.
Britain’s Best Home Cook, slated to premiere later this year, pits ten of the country’s most skilled and resourceful home cooks against each other in a competition-style reality TV format. The series will be eight episodes long. Who will shine as Britain’s most skilled kitchen creative? What type of judge will Mary Berry prove to be? We’ll all have to wait for the show to find out. In the meantime, catch me watching this trailer on repeat.
