Stella Parks' Thanksgiving Game Plan Is Nothing Like You'd Expect

Hint: It involves a lot more peeling. And chopping.

When I imagine Stella Parks preparing for Thanksgiving, there's an enormous puff of confectioners' sugar filling the air. Sprinkles float through the sugar cloud like snowflakes, and my imaginary-Parks bats one away playfully with a whipped cream-coated balloon whisk.

But IRL Parks, the pastry wizard behind Serious Eats and James Beard Award–winning cookbook BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts (and my go-to source for all things baking), will more likely prep for Thanksgiving with a trip to the farmer's market. According to our Automagic Menu Maker, vegetables of all shapes and sizes will take centerstage at her Thanksgiving feast.

"I get a lot of sugar in my day to day life, thanks to my work at Serious Eats, so when Thanksgiving rolls around what I'm really craving is vegetables in every form," she says. "My menu is focused on bringing all kinds of fall produce to the table, without having to lift a finger for dessert."

Below, we've included some highlights—or, you can check out Parks' full, detailed menu here. And if you're feeling inspired, you can design your own!
