I have been a fan of Debbie Meyer Green Bags and boxes for years. Produce, bread and cheese just keeps, for weeks, some of it. and some for a week or so longer than in any other storage. I have tried others, and keep coming back to Debbie Meyer. In recent years she has been selling a lighter weight product. These aren't as effective as the earlier heavier weight products, but still work better than most others I have tried. So I keep using them, both older versions that I still have and newer ones that I have added. The bags last a lot longer than 10 uses. I rinse and dry every few uses. Boxes clean out just as well.

I bought a small hand-held cordless vacuum sealer just for avocados. It came with reusable bags. Of course, I use it for other things, too. I bought the little hand-held because I knew my regular vacuum sealer would have made guacamole since the suction would be too strong. I was very pleased that it nicely sealed my avocado half without crushing it and I was even more pleased when I opened it four days later and the avocado was still just as green as when I sealed it.

Adrienne,
What is the mfg/make/model of the sealer you use? I have a cordless foodsaver but I would think it would crush the avocados if I used it.
I put an unused half-avocado (skin on, pit removed) cut side down in a small plastic tub with a bit of water in it. The water seals out air. It works well for a day, ok for two days. After that, I need to make guacamole!

Hi, John. It's a VMSTR Rechargeable Vacuum Sealer. I did leave mine with the pit in, but it did last in the fridge for four days before I couldn't stand waiting any longer. The bags are great, too, and clean up nicely. I dry mine over an empty wine bottle on my counter (yes, there are good uses for empty wine bottles). Here's a link: https://amzn.to/37VAYvK

For the past 6 years, I have used Progressive containers for CSA/Farmer's Market food stage. I've tried various others, but the Progressive have worked best for me.
