How to know you have enough soap or detergent in the load? Check the load as it agitates; if there are ANY bubbles on the water, you have added enough soap. Soap bubbles gets 'used up' as they attach to the dirt and grime from the fabrics. Lots of bubbles on the water surface mean excess soap in the water and money down the drain.

Hmmm… so you are getting rid of dryer sheets, but adding color catcher sheets …..

Color catcher sheets you can use over and over until they turn quite a dark grey (vs. drier sheets that are one and done.) No, the manufacturers don't list this. I make custom garments for people, and yes, I have used the brand in the link above over and over until I'm concerned they won't respond any longer. Use the quantity as recommended.

I love these and they work. Using them eliminates running extra loads. For the smart ass who wonders how people don’t know this stuff, not everyone has someone to teach them housekeeping skills.

I think not using a mesh bag for delicates can really put wear and tear on the garments. For the underthings and night clothes that aren't too delicate for a machine wash, a bag can not only prevent snags and pulls, but can also make them easier to pull from the machine. I've ruined bras because they sneaked into my dryer.

Another caution is do not dry athletic clothes such as yoga pants, the heat from the dryer causes the elastic to break down faster. It may not matter when it comes to $12 pants from Ross or TJ Maxx, but $90 from LuluMon or Athletica, definitely don't dry those!
I also use a 1/4 cup of white vinegar in the rinse, it helps to remove residue, odors, and stains.

One big mistake I’ve been making is hanging clothes that should be folded. I really don’t like pleats and wrinkles so I tend to hang everything. It turns out that hanging certain materials can ruin the item by stretching and misshaping it.
I figured I’d also mention that, for the life of me, I cannot figure out wrinkles. I feel like I’ve tried everything. (Please don’t suggest ironing lol). I also have problems with cat hair on clothing and sheets :(. Yikes I am a MESS.

I've got the cat hair issues. I've read about these kind of things but never tried them. Could be worth a shot.

The dryer sheets that claim to remove pet hair from bounce really work. I cut them in half for smaller loads.

A recent laundry mistake I realized I'd been making was not cleaning and disinfecting the laundry hamper. For such a clean freak, it's disgusting to think I'd forgotten this major misstep all these years!
