Thank you for this article on Naomi Pomeroy. I was first introduced to her genius when she was part of Top Chef Masters with the brilliant Floyd Cardoz. My favorite episode was her on the other side of the partition from her Dad yelling commands at him on how to cook a particular dish (she didn't know it was him). Her reaction when she realized who it was is priceless (and that episode is worth a watch if you've never seen it).
I followed her career and was amazed and awed by her resilience and what a champion she was for restaurants during the pandemic. Heartfelt condolences to her family and friends.

Such a lovely tribute to an amazing pioneer in the Portland dining scene. Seeing members of the Food52 Cookbook Club cooking her recipes brings comfort that her legacy will continue. It truly just might be the best way I can imagine honoring her.

Let this terrible loss not be in vain. I spend many spring and summer weekends near whitewater of the kind in which Ms. Pomeroy drowned. (My husband is an expert kayaker of many decades, certified as an instructor and whitewater rescue expert on Colorado's beautiful rivers.)
Whitewater is dangerous. Currents are strong, and the water does crazy, unpredictable things under the surface. This tragedy could have been avoided.

I read she wasn't wearing a life jacket. Please advocate for life jackets on any type of unknown waters!
