8 Ways to Make Your Weekend Feel Like a Vacation

February 15, 2013

You've made it to Friday, which means it's time to treat yourself to a roundup of links we love. Go ahead, procrastinate a little.

Look up. See that drink? That's your ticket to sending your mind into fits of beachy daydreams. (If you need to leave at any point to escape to pretend Tahiti, or make-believe Thailand, you have our full permission. Just don't forget to come back for these links. They're good ones.)

Shop the Story

This weekend, get away whether you leave your kitchen or not. These links will take you to faraway places where there's no work, plenty of perfect margaritas, and you'll never have to answer to anyone about how many chocolate soufflés you ate last night. Safe travels -- maybe we'll see you there.

• Take a vacation in your kitchen. Think mangos, rum, tacos. Go.

• Get around the world in six cups of coffee. (But skip this stop, whatever you do.)

• Bring August in Maine to your kitchen in February, with this chowder. New Orleans more your style? Try bringing the Big Easy home.

• Live vicariously through any and all of these food bloggers

Dumplings

Bring a little spice to the table. Gradually.

• And, if all else fails, fall back on tequila and limes.

Have a link to add to the mix? Tell us in the comments!

I have a thing for most foods topped with a fried egg, a strange disdain for overly soupy tomato sauce, and I can never make it home without ripping off the end of a newly-bought baguette. I like spoons very much.

Kenzi,
I think we may have been separated at birth.
Cheers to fried eggs and the ends of delicious baguettes!
