As a defiant response to Sad Desk Lunches, the Food52 team works to keep our midday meals both interesting and pretty. Each week, we'll be sharing our happiest desk lunches -- and we want to see yours, too.

Today: Food52's Manging Editor Brette Warshaw eats dessert for lunch on her birthday.

Not Sad Desk Lunch from Food52

Shop the Story

Thursday was my second annual 21st birthday, which I suppose makes me an adult. So instead of having coffee cake and chocolate babka for lunch (that was breakfast!), my wonderful colleagues made me the adult version of dessert for lunch (also, unsurprisingly, my favorite "savory" foods): Marcella Hazan's Tomato Sauce with Onion and Butter (with fresh tomatoes: a labor of love!) and raw corn-and-feta salad. Because if I'm going to eat sugar and butter for lunch, they should at least masquerade as vegetables -- so I could eat piles of cookies afterwards.

Join us in our campaign to end sad desk lunches by sharing your photos on Instagram and Twitter with the #NotSadDeskLunch hashtag! We'll be regramming and retweeting our favorites.
