This past week we had crostini on the brain -- the test kitchen was overflowing with what seemed like an endless supply of bread topped with goodness.

For those of us salad devotees, a sandwich is a big commitment; crostini allow you to mix and match, to try different flavors.

And with all the holiday party appetizer situations going on, we suggest taking that leftover baguette nub and last night's dip, tapenade, or paté, and turning it all into a crostini spread for lunch today.

We'll leave you with a pro tip: Pack the baguette slices separately from the toppings and assemble everything at work. Coworkers will stare longingly over at your desk, both because they weren't invited to the party and because they're jealous of your bomb lunch.

And if you're looking for some crostini inspiration, here are 7 recipes to get you started.
