I'm very fond of bigsislittledish
It is a wonderful gluten-free blog that aspires to fine dining and elegant pastry - something that is tough to do with gluten-free. The stories about food and travel and memory, really resonate and inspire me to cook. It's the first source I check when looking to make something new!

There are also some Scottish and Irish blogs I follow that are beautiful, intelligently written, and deliciously wonderful: http://kelliesfoodtoglow.com, by a Scotswoman; Wise Words (I eat, He cooks, The kids make a big mess) http://wisewords.ie; Nessa's Family Kitchen (you'll read it just to see the gorgeous photos and her little red-haired children) http://www.nessasfamilykitchen.blogspot.com; and A Year in Redwood, about the travails of raising organic pigs, ducks, and chickens in County Tipperary. She and I are planning a joint post on what to do with fabulous duck eggs. http://ayearinredwood.com

I love Manger (http://mimithorisson.com) - all those dogs, all those kids, and all in France. http://www.davidlebovitz.com is consistently informative, if a bit formulaic; I sometimes enjoy his twitter feed more. I love reading http://chocolateandzucchini.com in French. http://italiannotes.com gives me a good Italian fix, and her recipes are as good as the stories behind them. All of these and the early days of Food52 have been influential to me as I've grown my own blog, The Solitary Cook, where I endeavor to write for people who love to read as much as they love to cook. http://thesolitarycook.wordpress.com

I am a devoted follower of Big Sis Little Dish: http://bigsislittledish.wordpress.com/ It is created by Erin Orr, an extraordinarily talented chef, artist, and storyteller. Big Sis Little Dish http://bigsislittledish.wordpress.com/ is an amazing blog which my dear friend Erin and her sister Silvi write. Erin is an incredible storyteller, so her postings are not just about how to make delicious food, but are also journeys through her childhood in Hawaii and Vancouver and her travels as an adult to places such as Korea and Estonia. Sometimes I read Big Sis Little Dish for the recipes, but sometimes, I just want to read/see something like this: http://bigsislittledish.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/a-composed-spring-salad-inspired-by-estonian-rosolje-and-birds-nests/. or this . . .

GOOD DINNER MOM... Great approach to fun, DELICIOUS and healthy eating (yeah, that's right, I put the words delicious and healthy in the same sentence!) What I like the most is that the recipes are made with whole healthy ingredients, and require a lot of "DIY" techniques, instead of sending you straight to the store to buy already cooked or canned foods and just put them together. In fact, this little aspect has brought great benefits to my family. We feel more healthy and full of energy since we started cooking this way.

My favorite blog is Chef Sally Jane, An American Chef in London: http://chefsallyjane.com/
First and foremost, it's all about the food. Her recipes sound delicious, and look beautiful. And the way she describes them, they sound completely do-able for the average home chef (well, maybe there are a few exceptions... she recently wrote about a terrine that seems ALMOST totally beyond me... but I'd still like to give it a shot!
The photography is wonderful... step-by-step pics, and finished products... they're VERY enticing!
I've made a couple of her recipes, with great success, and have several on my "to do" list.
I really enjoy Sally's writing style... light and breezy, and very entertaining. Plus, I appreciate how she puts her recipes in context... many of them come from her childhood, when she was growing up abroad, in Russia, Turkey, etc. It's very evocative of how deeply connected our happiest memories are to the food we enjoyed at the time.
Finally, I love how communicative Sally is. Her well-written blog is very personal, and it's clear that's not just a put-on "personna". If you have questions or comments, she's great at replying, not only on her blog, but on twitter and FaceBook.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not a big time "foodie"... I get some recipes on the internet, but not much more. Sally's blog is the first one that I've found compelling enough to follow, and inspiring enough to make me not only try some of the recipes she's posted, but believe I can really succeeed at them.

Gotta say, I'm often disappointed by the food blogs you link to. The food photography is usually great (and don't get me wrong, I'm a staunch supporter of good photos), but the writing and content is often lacking. For me, good writing is key to a good blog. Not only does it make the reading pleasurable, but it also helps inspire confidence in the blogger's abilities, whether that's valid or not. I'm looking forward to reading these comments!

Mrs Wheelbarrow's Kitchen for inspired food and wonderful writing. Healthy Green Kitchen; Winnie's food is marvelous and her blog is filled with smart ideas about living well. East of Eden Cooking, with its focus on the Central Valley of California, and Deb's stirring photography, is a must-read.

It's definitely 'Dishing Up the Dirt.' http://dishingupthedirt.com
It's written by an Oregon farmer, and she combines brief farm updates with absolutely delicious and simple recipes for farm-fresh veggies (and they all look beautiful, too!).

Have you seen Manger aka http://mimithorisson.com OMG - I have total lifestyle envy. She could be a model, cooks and presents amazing food in a gorgeous farmhouse in the French countryside. Her hubby takes the pics and her kids are adorable. Have been following Smitten Kitchen, Joy the Baker, David Leibovitz, Orangette, Always Order Dessert for years…you could also check out my blog - Selma's Table :)

I LOVE Anna Carl's blog, theyellowtable.com. Her recipes are delicious and healthy, and she's great at explaining what can be made well ahead of time, what works on a party menu, etc. Oh- and so many good weeknight options. Plus, she's writing a cookbook and documenting the process on the blog-- so fascinating and inspiring.

Smitten Kitchen. Hands down the best food blog there is. Not only is it filled with 8 years of recipes, but Deb covers everything from breakfast to after dinner cocktails. The pictures are fun, and helpful (like walking you through step by step what you're homemade caramel should look like when its ready to take it off the stove), but the stories she incorporates are entertaining and helpful.
Plus I feel like we would be friends.

My favorite, since it's written mostly for me, is Sunday, Dinner for Two (http://sundaydinnerfortwo.blogspot.com). Other than that my favorites are blogs where I find recipes and tips that I use in the kitchen. Among these are Food Wishes (http://foodwishes.blogspot.com/), 101 Cooking for Two (http://www.101cookingfortwo.com/), and The Feed at America's Test Kitchen (http://www.americastestkitchenfeed.com/).

Definitely eat-chic.com. Not only does she post amazingly chic food pictures with well written recipes, but if you ask, she will help you with putting together a menu! Too many! I read the usual suspects, like Smitten Kitchen, and some other favorites that come to mind are Bon Appetempt, Manger, Bojon Gourmet, Lottie and Doof, Local Milk, A Sweet Spoonful, La Domestique, Sweet Amandine, and Happyolks. I feel like I'm often discovering new ones to love, too. I enjoy blogs with beautiful photos and thoughtful posts that offer a sense of the writer's personality and life. Those are the ones I get really excited about when they pop up in my reader.
(Of course food blogs inspired me to make one of my own. It's alittlesaffron.com, if you'd like to take a look!)

I'm not sure if my vote counts because my favorite blogger is my daughter-in-law, Amber Wilson, fortheloveofthesouth.com. However, I must say without reservation, she is one of the most talented writers, food developers and photographers I have seen in a long time. Her writing immediately pulls you into a sentimental journey of southern memories, which I hold dear being a Southerner myself. When she posts her recipes I am astounded at her eye for perfection in photographing simple, yet bold pictures of her creations. All folks should be so blessed as us, her family, the benefactors of her knowledge of blending the freshest and most delightful ingredients to create new treasured dishes, desserts or drinks for the table. I'm a little "star struck" to be honest, by the great gifts she has!
I also truly enjoy mimithorisson.com ~ Manger.

David Lebovitz is an ice cream god, an amazing pastry chef, and a totally funny man who talks about life in Paris and shares tips about his travels, including great places to eat in other countries. Other stellar bakers are Rose Levy Beranbaum, Dorie Greenspan (who shares cooking, not just baking) and Nick Malgieri. I also love some of the others mentioned here (Food52 of course, Smitten Kitchen and Orangette). Mmm. So good.

Oh, I'm a recipe-aholic/blog-aholic foodie so I'm going to be avidly reading comments and checking out some new sites. I, too, love Smitten Kitchen, Mel's Kitchen Cafe, Annie's Eats, and Brown Eyed Baker to name a few--but I'd be remiss not to add my own little blog.
