The best place to buy duck fat is from the source at Pekin Paradise. You can buy pure rendered duck fat online at www.farmfreshduck.com and shipping is free on all container sizes from 15 oz. to 38 pounds.

I'm with greenstuff. Every time I make a duck, I save the fat and freeze it. Eventually, I have enough to make confit.

The other way to get duck fat, of course, is to cook some duck yourself and keep the rendered fat.

Hudson Valley Fois Gras is a first class operation, and if you're buying duck products by mail order, I recommend them. I don't know where you get $55 a quart--I see$12.50 for 2 pounds (about a quart) at their website http://www.hudsonvalleyfoiegras.com/foiegrasmarket.html. If you do order from them, where they get you is in the shipping costs. It's in your interest to order a lot, as the rate remains constant for a big range.

I've ordered from them before. The best way is to boost your order with duck leg confit, or duck breasts.
The shipping container size is the same to a point...look at the shipping cost for the order as you add items.
They Fedex overnight in cold pack box. So, yes shipping can easily add more than the cost of product for a single item.

You can (and should) get it from the Hudson valley. It's a bit pricy ($55/qt) but its quality rendered fat and they really treat their animals well. Try amazon or any local Hudson valley purveyor.
