How about making sdebrango's tender yellow cake and adding nutmeg (I'd probably start with a teaspoon of freshly grated nutmeg), then serve with whipped cream spiked with rum or brandy? You could probably sub eggnog for the milk in the recipe, but it might affect the texture a bit.
