How to put a shiny crackly sugar crust on a baked spring roll?

i would like to put a clear shiny 'sugar syrup w/ sesame seed' coating on the outside of a baked spring roll . Might it work to bake a spring roll til almost done, brush w/ sugar syrup(containing some corn syrup) and continue baking? I would like the outside to be a crackly thin clear glaze. Thanks so much for your help with this.

Or brush with some egg white and sprinkle with sugar.

I think that would work well. Just watch that it's not in too long or it could burn.
