Are pickles cucumbers? Or zucchinis?

Both! But traditional pickles are cucumbers.

Many, many things can be pickled - radishes, cauliflower, peppers....

If you pick up a jar of generic "pickles", they are cucumbers, usually Kirbys. Pickled zucchini would be labeled as such.
