You could add some more dried fruit since the recipe already has raisins. If you wanted to do that add a cup of dried fruit coarsely chopped. The cake will probably be ok without the added fruit too

Great idea! Alas, no. The only fresh fruit I have in house are some berries and some grapes. I have some dried fruit (apricots mostly).

Do you have any pears? Those would be a good substitute
