Is there really supposed to be 1 tablespoon of baking powder in Louisa's Cake (11/4 C flour) or is it a typo?

Wanting to make cake today, have mucked it up before with the baking powder. Would love an explanation about the ratio if possible.

I wouldn't hesitate to make it as written, you can see from the many comments that it's successful. Sorry I don't know why it needs so much bp
