Susan W -- I'm getting the bowl-lift mixer. It'll be some time before I'll be in a position to use it -- so no photos -- but I'll have you in mind with the first batch of challah (versions one and two) or buttermilk bread or whole wheat or .... I think you get the idea. Thanks again.

SusanW -- thanks again. I do bake large amounts of bread - so the lift-bowl does seem better. I appreciate your advice -- here and in so many other instances.

Louise, be sure to let us know which one you decide on and post a photo of the new treasure. :)

Thanks so much. I have the bowl-lift and have loved it, but need another mixer for a second location, and the tilt-head is cheaper. Since I bake yeast bread often, it sounds as if the bowl-lift -- and more power -- is the way to go. And, yes, a second bowl would be great.

I also meant to add that the tilt head is certainly adequate for breads, especially if you go for the higher wattage. If you make large amounts of bread, then the bowl-lift would probably be better for you.

I have the bowl lift (KA 6 qt.) and wish I had the tilt head. I have no upper body strength It's not easy at times to lift the bowl out full. I rarely use the beast because baking is not my thang. I did buy the beater brand scraper blade and it is amazing because I don't have to stop & scrape down the bowl.

I have a friend who regrets getting the bowl lift and finds she rarely uses it because she finds it inconvenient... For an expensive investment purchase like a Kitchen Aid, take one that suits your needs so you get the most possible use out of it!

It's not so much that one is better, but what suits your needs best. Tilt head gives easier access to adding things to and scraping the bowl. Bowl-lift has a stronger motor and larger bowl. If you bake a lot of bread, the larger bowl and stronger motor may sway you. It's also a little heavier and has a larger footprint. I have owned both and loved both. Also think about where you will store it and use it.

I highly suggest you buy an extra bowl if it's in the budget. You'll be so glad you did.
