Ketchup. Refrigerate or not?

I've had a bottle of ketchup stored in a cupboard for up to half a year with no problem and have done so fir about 40 years.
The color remains intact, and due to the heavy amount of preservatives and chemicals in Heinz and Hunts you need not worry.
If you make your own chemical/preservative-free ketchup ... keep it in the fridge as it is only good for a couple weeks.

Yes, according to Heinz, it should be refrigerated after opening to keep it at its freshest.
