I have stored it out of the fridge for a few days in candy bags -- but I would be hesitant to do that if you live anywhere with higher humidity at this time of year. If it is going to be longer than a few days, I'd definitely suggest freezing it or putting it in the fridge (I prefer freezing). One additional thing to consider is the butter content: The higher the butter content, the more likely to spoil so if it has a lot of butter compared to other recipes, I'd keep it cold.
