Was it the tahini or the chickpeas that made my hummus thicker than normal?

Had an interesting experience using a different brand of tahini and also a diferent brand of organic canned chickpeas. Hummus turned out so much thicker than usual and I stirred the tahini really well before adding. Twice this happened. What gives?

If you used same volume of chickpeas each time, they're not likely the cause. could be the tahini paste or volume of water/lemon juice you used or both.

Did you use the liquid from the tin of chickpeas as well?
