I haven't had Lipton soup in quite a while, but from memory, I'd start by chopping a fair amount of onion fine and saute it until well browned - for flavor and color. Also, soup mixes are usually loaded with salt and sugar - so if you're trying to approximate its taste, I'd season it highly, and add a good pinch of sugar.
If you usually use Lipton Onion Soup mix, I'd start by adding onion powder (or diced onions)—those are some of the main ingredients in the mix—plus a tiny pinch of sugar.
