It's going to be hard to avoid using it cooking and clouding the surface--because it's just so temping.
But see if it's something you like in it's pristine state. I've seen them used with little battery powered tea lights under them..and they glow nicely.
If you use it in the oven it will turn a milky color. It's nice for cooking shrimp etc.
But I rather wish I would have just keep mine with it's brighter color to put in the fridge and use for serving Sushi/Shashimi or Chatcuterie
We've grilled shrimp on it and it was very tasty. I've heard that you can also freeze them and mix in ice cream topping on it. But I would either make only sweet or savory things on it. We mostly use ours just for serving now (although that does seem like a waste)
