More powdered sugar in a recipe

I have 2 icing recipes but 1 calls for 2x as much powered sugar what does this do to the over all recipe? Does it just make more icing?

hard to tell without seeing the recipes what the differences are.

Yes probably. The important thing is what are you mixing it with. If it is just a liquid it will make less volume than if you have whipped butter or cream or something like that.
