Hi! Help. Made my first Canadian Maple Pie last night and accidentally left it out overnight cooling. Approximately 12 hours. Planned to serve it to friends at Easter Lunch. Is it still good?
Butter tarts (a cousin of Canadian Maple Pie) are said to be ok 2 days at room temp. Compare your recipe to this one...if you have butter cream eggs & sweetener (sugar in butter tarts, syrup in pie), you should still be ok for another 36 hours. https://www.littlesweetbaker.com/butter-tarts/ :) If it lasts that long.
Most people won't have your problem...butter tarts tend to disappear the day they're made.
Along that line, most Canadian sites (Toronto star, food network canada, CBC, Canadian Living) had no keeping instructions.
Canadian Living, however, in one recipe recommended maximum room temp storage, packed in single layer, for 24 hours

Good luck, from Toronto.
There's no dairy in it and it's not custard. It's also known as a butter tart but I make it with margarine because we have a dairy allergy in the family. I ask because in Canada you can find it in the bakery area unrefridgerated but I'm not sure how long it can stay out for.
The first sugar pie I had (and loved) was in Quebec, but it had milk, butter and eggs. It was refrigerated, but if you're doesn't have those ingredients, think of it as a cookie. Better if eaten sooner, but it's fine sitting out for a couple of days.
