How does one use banana dates? They've been at a farmers' market in an Asian neighborhood near me, but neither the sellers nor any of the buyers speak English, so they remain a mystery to me. The dates are still on the branches. Any ideas? Thank you! ;o)

if they are yellow and on the branch with no soft spots, you may need to have them ripen first. two nights in the freezer and then defrost will do it.

I'm stumped. There are date palms and banana palms, but there are no banana dates. Bananas tend to be Asian (tropical), dates Middle Eastern (desert).

If they are being called "banana dates" because they're dates that are yellow or amber, go ahead and use them cooked or raw as you would any other date.
