Ways to finish the roulade with some visual appeal -
* reserve some of the cheese (or add more) sprinkled on top of finished roulade, pass under grill for a few minutes (watching it to avoid burning), gets nicely melted & browned
* add a hot sauce of contrasting color (for example, tomato sauce)
* add a cold sauce with fresh herbs (for example, sour cream & dill)
* sprinkle chopped fresh herbs (any soft leaf variety, like basil, parsley, oregano, etc) on top.
Another way to give the dish more fluffy texture is, in effect, to turn the roulade into an open face omelet, cook in large skillet, finish in oven and it puffs up like a Dutch baby pancake.
I hope one of these ideas help you when you next make this favorite dish.
Is the fluffy texture an example of good visual appeal you want, or is any good visual appeal ok?
Also, if you can, please send link to your recipe, so we can offer suggestions tailored to it.
It's just an example of good visual appeal. Any visual appeal is OK. Mine tends to go quite flat.
I don't have a link for it; it's a recipe from my mums old Aust Womens Weekly cookbook called The Barbecue Cookbook. I will add an image of the recipe.
