Searching for Mac n cheese recipe with penne, cubed sharp and mild cheddar, tomatoes, butter.

It was baked and the author mentioned that the bits of penne that poked out of the top of the casserole were super crunchy. I believe I came across it in early spring this year.

Not exactly but this has most of what you're looking for, and you can replace their 3 cheeses with 2 types of cheddar.

Original had 5 cheeses (But flexibility...you can play around with the # and type).
