Substitutions for sorghum?

I've got a recipe that uses a brine calling for 1/3 cup sorghum. Any ideas for substitutions?

I would second molasses. As a southern girl, I can tell you sorghum has a distinct flavor.

Hi! You could do honey or maple syrup or, even better, a mix of both.
