It'll taste fine, but dark rum would be better if you have it.

Bourbon & pecans are southern combo.
If you go with scotch, consider adapting to UK nut (chestnut hazelnut or walnut), Lyle's golden syrup etc.
Maybe even an oat crust or oat crumble garnish.
