Freezing fresh vegetables

Is it okay to freeze raw, fresh vegetables (specifically yellow and zucchini squash) or should they be cooked first?

When you freeze any fresh vegetable, the cells will burst and the result will be mushy.

I would cook the zucchini & yellow squash before freezing. The water content is high & if you freeze them raw, they will be mushy when they are thawed.
