Rolling pin wood choices

Hi all!
I am a bit new at this and am so excited to try the new 1/8" and 1/4" set of rolling pins. Here is where my being a novice comes in, how to decide which wood to pick and what are the differences other than the price?

Walnut is considerably more porous than maple and is likely to absorb more, particularly fats- can't see this having any noticeable effect on a rolling pin, but there it is. Walnut is also softer- once again, can't see it mattering noticeably.

Hi Ladydy!

That's a great question! As it turns out, there's no difference in performance between the woods, so it's simply a matter of personal preference. The price difference is driven by the availability of the wood--maple is more readily available compared to walnut. That said, they all perform the same when rolling out dough.

I hope you love them as much as we do!

Best wishes,
