Can I double the recipe? What adjustments would I have to make?

I would double the main ingredients but only use 1 1/2 times the spices to start with (because they can be too strong if you straight double them).
Cook the dish, taste, then add more spicing if needed and cook all together a few minutes more.
P.S. I've made this recipe and it's delicious.
