Dough consistency? Not sure if making a Do'h mistake

I'm curious if the dough is suppose to be able to pass the window pane test or if I just have to work with the adjectives "soft" and "smooth". I have a hand mixer with bread hooks and don't know if I'm getting there or over kneading.

You can use the window pane test — it’s always useful to see the elasticity but here I prefer to just aim for soft and smooth as the dough isn’t as pliable or wet as some other doughs will be so just aim for smooth and starting to get a little springy.
