When do you remove the vegetables?

In step 6 you "add the vegetables back to the pot." I assume they should be removed after sauteeing in the garlic, and before making the roux? That seems right, but it's a step missing from the instructions (at least, I don't see it.)

Looking at the recipe I would pull out the veggies at the same moment (end of step 5). Easier to make a roux without chunks of food and less chance of overcooking the vegetables (a high risk of this).
