Agree in general with 702551 but caution on using the 9x13 for two 9x9 pans.

The two square pans afford just over 22 cups capacity but the rectangle pan gives only about 16 cups.

Update -

Rectangle pan still too small, but variation on sizes.

Double checked my figures (from cubic inches) at one of those baking pan volume charts. The rectangle pan has about 14 cups capacity and the two 9x9 square pans a total of 20 cups. Not the same #s, but still about 6c or 1.5 qt too small.

You will need a bigger single pan to replace the two squares, or smaller pan to take up the extra batter.

While I haven't checked your calculations are probably right for the pans you described.

However the referenced recipe calls for two 9"-diameter *ROUND* pans not two 9x9" square pans. The volume between a square pan and a circular one are different.

702551,
You’re right.
Don’t know where I got the idea of square.
And as the round pans each hold about 8 cuos and the 9x13 holds between 14 and 16 cups, this recipe may work in one of then.

While I have no experience with this recipe I would try it.

The volume difference between one 9x13" rectangular pan and two 9"-diameter circular pans is very close.

There are sites that do volume calculations for various sized baking receptacles. I suggest you seek them out and bookmark one that you like for future use.
