Can I start my (custard) ice cream base in the blender mixing egg yolk, dairy, sugar etc. first and then cook?

I don't know what I have against tempering eggs but it offends the very nature of my being and I just want to find another way to make a good egg based custard without that irksome step. Looking for validation in Virginia.
