Maldon is a brand of sea salt . . good brand, but there are many others out there that are as good, like Celtic sea salt, etc

I know Sur La Table and William Sonoma carry Maldon sea salt. If we are talking about the same item, you can probably substitute plain old sea salt. But I think the flake size will be different.

There are lots of places, depending on where in NYC you are:

Kalustyans (Lex & 28/29th); Dean & Deluca (SoHo); Gourmet Garage or Citarella (several of each in Manhattan); Fairway (UES, UWS and Brooklyn) may carry it; some Whole Foods; I think you might even find it at some Food Emporiums and Garden of Eden (several in Manhattan.)

I'm sure there are other shops in Brooklyn too. Shouldn't be hard to find.

I'm suspecting you mean Maldon salt, and a great place to find it is the Meadow. They will have pretty much any salt you could possibly want. http://www.atthemeadow.com/shop/index.php?main_page=contact_us
