I was going to make the pumpkin ice cream on David Leibowitz's blog and add in some pecans but may instead go for Melissa's Clark's pecan pie Merrill posted the other day. Or maybe omit the nuts from the ice cream and have pie and ice cream.
I've been perusing the fabulous Essential New York Times Cookbook (thanks Amanda!) and I'm leaning towards doing the Lemon Cake (Ina Garten's originally) or Alice Water's Cranberry Upside down cake. Has anyone tried either of these?
for something casual, why not an oatmeal-cranberry-walnut sort of cookie? you get those great thanksgiving and fall flavors but it's not a boatload of extra work to round out the tgiving table. also, a bowl of crispy apples and fragrant pears to help cleanse palates before round two!
