We honestly didn't know compost bins could be so pretty. This simple and discreet wooden container sits on a kitchen counter to remind you to set aside banana peels, coffee grounds and egg shells, for transfer into municipal green bins or your own garden compost. The box is crafted of salvaged walnut with a stainless steel pan and lid. It keeps messy trash separate, helps us stay environmentally responsible, and spruces up our countertop—what more could we want? And now it's available in a new petite size for more counter space.

Due to the unique nature of each piece of wood, your compost bin will show varied coloring and grain. The piece is not stained, just oiled. Stainless steel insert has Made in the USA marked on the handle.

It holds quite a bit and I use a liner inside it so I can easily toss the contents, but the lid fits nicely and I am so glad I made the investment in it. For me, it has been worth the cost. Beautiful on our counter!!

We’ve had many containers for compost-bound kitchen scraps over the past 30+ years and this one is my favorite. Plus, it’s quietly beautiful and doesn’t shout “I’m full of garbage!” :-) They’re a bit pricy but you get a lot for the money. It appears to be built extremely well. 4th one I've purchased!

Loved the first one I bought. Very functional. Looks great on the counter. Fit well in dishwasher or just rinse out. Bought two for Xmas presents and the recipients both love them. Then bought another for a vacation home.

Beautiful, sturdy, bigger than expected!

This is an excellent receptacle of compost. I would say that it’s much larger than what it seems like in the pictures. Expect it to be perfectly sized for 3-4 days of food for a single person who likes eating veggies!

Beautiful

It is both convenient for compost in the kitchen for scraps as well as nice to look at. It’s size is just right for scraps, but not so big to be difficult to move or an eyesore.

Looks great on the counter

Looks great on the counter, easy to clean. Probably a bit on the expensive side, seeing that it is essentially a stainless steel container (similar to the ones used in chef kitchens and bars) with a rectangular wood cover.

Nice looking compost bin
