Author Notes

The idea to melt the butter and then stir in the maple syrup and cinnamon was given to me by Kristen Miglore -- I may never make cinnamon toast any other way. —Merrill Stubbs

What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch coarse salt
  • 4 slice toast
Directions
  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat (you can also use the microwave).
  2. Stir in the maple syrup, cinnamon and salt and brush each slice of toast with some of the butter. Serve while still warm.

I preheated the oven to 350 to warm and lightly toast the bread prior to adding the glaze. This works well with Cinnamon Chip bread from Great Harvest.

Do you broil or bake it? Heating step missing from recipe.

I ate so much cinnamon toast when I was little, but never this way. Yup, genius. Merrill + Kristen - next time you're in SF, hit The Mill for toast. I think you'll approve.

If one makes this with brown butter, I wonder how awesome it would be....Love the salt in it too
