Makes 8 tacos

For the meatballs:

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup red onion, small dice
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano (Mexican preferred)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 8 flour tortillas
  • 1 recipe Tzatziki sauce (see below)
  • feta cheese, crumbled
  • arugula
  • fresh dill, chopped for garnish
  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground beef with the next 9 ingredients. Shape into 24 small meatballs (approximately 1-inch diameter).
  2. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 375 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes, or until done.
  3. In the meantime, heat flour tortillas on a comal or in a heavy skillet. Keep warm.
  4. Serve 3 meatballs in a flour tortilla. Top with Tzatziki sauce, crumbled feta cheese, arugula and fresh dill.

Tzatziki Sauce

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 cucumber, peeled, seeded and minced or grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  1. Mix all ingredients and refrigerate until ready to use. This sauce is better if made the day before to allow flavors to develop.
