Canadians make everything with maple syrup. That sugar swap, plus a couple of small tweaks, take your homemade cranberry sauce from good to great. —Theresa Lemieux

Ingredients

8 ounces
fresh cranberries

½ cups
pure maple syrup

⅛ teaspoons
sea salt

1 pinch
ground cloves

zest and juice of an orange
Directions

Put all ingredients in a pot, and bring to boil over high heat. Put a lid on and cook over medium heat. When you no longer hear the cranberries popping, about 5 minutes, turn off the heat.

Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
