Author Notes
Winter temperatures might be low, but that doesn't mean you can't spice things up in the kitchen. Celebrate the weekend with a hot and spicy-flavor inspired charcuterie board, perfect for at-home brunch. The best part is, it's easy to make and completely customizable. —Marie Lynn Whitted
Ingredients
-
2 handfuls
Jerky
-
4 ounces
Goat Cheese
-
2 ounces
Nuts (ex. cashews or almonds)
-
2 handfuls
Cheese Puffs
-
2 pieces
Bread (toasted)
-
1 piece
Cucumbers, sliced
-
1 sprig
Rosemary (for garnish)
-
1/4 cup
Dip (ex. hummus)
Directions
-
Toast bread slices in the oven or toaster. Let cool and set aside for later. You can substitute the bread for any cracker of your choice.
-
On a cutting board, start with larger items as an anchoring point, such as hummus and cheese, in small dipping bowls. We used a homemade hummus recipe, but any spicy hummus will work. We also used Montchevre Jalapeño goat cheese.
-
In a separate dipping bowl, add Cheese Puffs. We used Barbara's Jalapeño Cheese Puffs for the perfect burst of flavor.
-
Next, take jerky and lay on the board. We used two kinds, a grass-fed Jalapeño Beef Jerky from Country Archer Provisions and a plant-based Sriracha Tomato Jerky from Bella Sun Luci.
-
Break up the now cooled bread and create piles on opposite sides of the board for balance. If you opted for crackers, create a nice symmetric pattern. Remember, visuals are everything!
-
Fill in any gaps where you can see the board with smaller items such as sliced veggies and nuts. Consider using cucumbers to help cool down the spice.
-
Garnish with sprigs of Rosemary and enjoy!
