What You'll Need
Ingredients
  • 4 Envy™ Apples
  • 2 teaspoons Lemon Juice
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Powdered Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Five Spice Powder
  • 64 Round Dumpling Wrappers
  • Frying Oil (preferably Avocado or Coconut Oil)
  • Ginger Sugar (2 tbs Sugar + 1 tbs Ground Ginger)
  • Powdered Sugar, Optional
  • Pinch of Salt
Directions
  1. To make the filling, peel and core and dice Envy apples then add to a bowl with lemon juice and stir.
  2. Mix together the sugar, ginger, five spice, and salt then sprinkle over diced Envy.
  3. Add the Envy mixture to a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 – 15 minutes, until the apples are tender then transfer to a bowl to cool.
  4. To prep the dumplings, lay two dumpling skins on a flat surface.
  5. Brush the outer edges of each dumpling with water.
  6. Spoon a generous tablespoon of filling into the center of one dumpling.
  7. Place the other dumpling on top, moistened edges together, push any air bubbles out, and seal the edges by pressing together.
  8. Transfer to a tray for frying.
  9. To fry the dumplings, heat 1/2-inch of oil in a deep sided frying pan over medium heat to 350°F. (Pro Tip: Put a popcorn kernel in the oil. When it pops, the oil is ready!)
  10. Fry dumplings, two or three at a time, for about 2 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  11. Remove with a slotted spatula to a paper towel-lined cooling rack, and sprinkle with spiced sugar.
  12. If you want to dust with powdered sugar, wait until the dumplings have cooled.
  13. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
