11 Spring Recipes for Your Picnic Basket

May 14, 2014

At heart, picnics are simple affairs. There are no courses to plan, no table to set. We don’t even mind if you leave the utensils at home -- just as long as you pack a good basket. On most days, we need nothing more than ham and butter on a baguette. We’ve even been known to bring our leftover salumi to the office for a picnic-inspired desk lunch. But every once in a while, we want our picnics all dressed up. We want beautiful, checkered blankets, grassy knolls, and an elegant feast to match. So this year, think of the picnic basket as your springtime treasure trove -- and you’ll take every frittata it has to offer. Here are 11 recipes to get you started.

I'll stick with the traditional favorites like hot dogs, burgers and salad. Summer is WAAAAY too short for fussy food!

I'm picnicking tomorrow and will definitely be throwing in a little quiche. Great idea! - a clean eating bento blog. Japanese or Asian-inspired.
