A Morning Smoothie for Your Sweet Tooth

August  6, 2014

All week long, we're highlighting some of our favorite New York-based makers, whose goods you can find in our I Heart NYC collection on Provisions. Follow along for a taste of New York -- without stepping foot on a subway.

Today: Shahar Shamir and his team at Brooklyn Sesame have turned sugar-heavy halva into a healthier, versatile spread perfect for blending into refreshing summer smoothies. So lounge out, crack a book, and halva sip.

There are many ways to use our wonderful halva spreads from Brooklyn Sesame -- be it smeared on toast for breakfast, paired with fruit for a nutritious mid-day snack, served alongside your favorite cheese as an appetizer, or spooned straight from the jar to satisfy your sweet tooth.

More: Seasame and toast make the perfect (unexpected) pair.

This summer, I've found myself enjoying our halva spreads in smoothies especially. They make for a great on-the-go breakfast or a refreshing afternoon snack on a hot summer day. My favorite is a "Tropical Dessert" smoothie -- it's as delicious and refreshing as it sounds!
