Snoasis closed down five or so years ago... I think it was replaced by "Summer Shack." Still a snowball stand in the summer.
If you really want to do BYOB in Hampden, check out Corner BYOB or Corner charcuterie. The dining in Hampden has really bypassed Grano in all aspects in recent years.
Totally agree with Julie about La Cuchara. It's really fantastic.
another festival to check out in Hampden is HampdenFest in September. It's more a celebration of the new Hampden, while HonFest celebrates what Hampden used to be.
Ps. It's not just locals who call that stretch of 36th street the avenue... It's marked by street signs.

The Snoasis at the intersection of Falls Rd. and Joppa Rd. closed down several years ago, but there's still one in the Lutherville/Cockeysville area!

Great list! I love your upbeat tone and you definitely captured some of my favorites. To this I would add, in Remington - the coffee place Charmington's, a stop at Single Carrot Theater and then Parts & Labor for dinner or to pick up those hard-to-find cuts of meat or artisanally pickled items. Hamden/Woodberry also has a new Basque place that's fab - La Cuchara. Then there's Birroteca right on the Jones Falls for excellent pizza and craft beer. Up Harford Road, don't forget Clementine, Zeke's Coffee, and there's a new green grocer too. Top anything off with a trip to The Charmery, our new ice cream place w/ creative flavors like Old Bay caramel and Black Sesame and Coffee and Donuts. It's in Hamden at the corner of The Avenue and Chestnut and there's always a line.

Koko's pub near Lake Montebello in Lauraville is a quirky and friendly neighborhood spot with the biggest and best lumpy cake cakes!

Verde Pizza, S. Montford Ave. artistic space with rustic and steampunk decor. Staff, knowledgeable about wines, service good. Pizza excellent with imperfectly crafted crust (Homemade looking, not like the big, boring chains) Variety of toppings, varied and interesting. Love it there.

Excellent list! I love how you span from inside city to out in the county (yum Stone Mill bakery and Snoasis!)

There should be a #9. Try not to become a victim of homicide while doing #s 1 through8.

This comment is ignorant, inaccurate, and unnecessary. You're obviously not familiar with any of the places mentioned in this article, nor with Baltimore as a whole -- a beautiful, community-oriented city. Yes, there's crime, but so much more.

There's a great tourist slogan in that: Baltimore, come for the food an sites. Stay because of the crime!

oh dear, the restaurants.. I lived for several years in Baltimore, and still miss the place, and the food. brewers art, (mt vernon); annabel lee, fork & wrench, langermann's, (all in canton - langermann's also has a place in federal hill); salt, (butcher's hill) the point, (fells) blue hill cafe, (highlandtown), tabrizi's, (federal hill), le petit louis (roland park, another Cindy Wolf) ..and so, so many more..

I would add in The Visionary and Walter's Art museums. The Walter's is now free and features mummies and Medieval armor. Lexington Market is not to be missed as previously mentioned. And while touristy a water taxi ride, given the right captain, can be a great history lesson.

I think those two museums are both on the list! They're great to visit, whether you live in Baltimore or are just passing through.

Great list! I also love Pitango Gelato (and now sandwiches too) in the touristy part of Fell's Point.

I would highly recommend the Poe themed restaurant Annabelle Lees in Canton. Mission BBQ, and who could forget Chaps pit beef!

Just last weekend I attempted to get into the Thames Oyster House three times. No success.

These are pretty good rec's, although I'd add: DiPasquale's in Highlandtown (the Old World Italian is the best sandwich in the city); Prigel's Creamery for dairy-fresh ice cream in the county; Andy Nelson's BBQ in Cockeysville; Brewer's Art for gastro pub fare and local brews.

I adore Baltimore, and I think that of all the cities I've lived in, Baltimore was the best. Trinacria for sure, an Italian outlet near Baltimore's old French quarter. Jack and Zach's on N. Charles is right behind the Women's Industrial Exchange, and Jack and Zach (two childhood friends who opened the place together and remain the only employees) make the best pancakes and their own sausages, including a Baltimore one made with Natty Boh and Old Bay. Koffee Therapy nearby has the most adorable secret backyard. Dylan's Oyster Cellar was a pop-up shop that is going to have a permanent location in Hampden in the fall. Chocolatea in Charles Village is a cafe most well known for its chocolate shop, decadent variety of hot chocolate, and dumplings (there's a happy hour price). Carma's cafe has addictive Mayan hot chocolate and a great, simple cafe menu. Nearby, Dominion Ice Cream sells vegetable ice cream like beet or sweet potato flavors, and they're soooo good. Sweet Sin, now called Sweet27 in Remington, bakes and sells incredible gluten-free cupcakes. Baba's Mediterranean Kitchen in Riverside Park has a wonderful menu and a cute, homey atmosphere. The Dizz in Remington is the ultimate Baltimore pub that offers tons of comfort seafood options. I could go on, but I won't go on.

Thank you for the great additions! I've been meaning to go to Baba's for a long time—I'll have to go the next time I'm home!

Love your places! The other 2 that come to mind for me are Lexington Market and Trinacria. I miss those Faidley's crabcakes and Italian sandwiches.
