The 2016 Piglet Tournament of Cookbooks: Day 1

February 25, 2016

It is time, the piglet said, to pit the best cookbooks of the year against each other and see who comes out on top.

First up: Last year’s Piglet champion, Brooks Headley, judges Ruth Reichl’s My Kitchen Year against Tara O’Brady’s Seven Spoons.

If this is all news to you, check out my last Piglet post—it details the how and the why, and it lays out the full lineup of books. (Find the bracket as well as the judges, including—surprise!—our final judge, Andrew Zimmern, here and here.)

But I’ll encourage you to skip straight to the judgment: There are comments on page gloss, Japanese video game metaphors, and a ton of recipes tested as Brooks lets the two cookbooks infiltrate staff meals at Superiority Burger.

See how it all went down, here.

And—because I must have read somewhere that the key to a good internet post is to link as many times as humanly possible—I made a podcast full of Piglet predictions. Hear who our judges and readers think will win, right this way. Or this way:

Happy 2016 Piglet, world! See you back here for our second judgment tomorrow.
