A Food Blog Link We Really Love

June 11, 2016

We're switching up our regular Link Love coverage this week to introduce you to a blogger whose recipes made us hungry.

Meet Jocelyn Adams, the blogger behind Grandbaby Cakes. Inspired by watching her grandmother bake for friends and family over visits to Mississippi, Jocelyn has taken a modern approach to time-tested family recipes.

As a self-proclaimed sweets connoisseur, her favorite dessert peach cobbler (and we would have to agree on that)! Jocelyn currently publishes her blog out of the Windy City, Chicago, where she experiments with new ways to turn her grandmother's recipes into fresh hits, like these Blackberry Limeade Cupcakes. Here is a little more about her:

My family is really the inspiration behind why I started my blog and why I've continued to share recipes after the last almost four years. Being in the kitchen with my grandmother, mother, and aunt solidified a true love of baking and cooking in me that was so much deeper than the food itself. It was more the process of creation that really spoke to me when actually starting my website. I'm a creative through and through, so recipe development, photography, and writing are my soulmates. Through my blog, I wanted to remix those memories and traditional recipes I learned growing up for newer generations. I tweaked them by adding my funky ideas, but I'm also keeping what we loved about those recipes in the first place intact.

I definitely love playing around with childhood memories and nostalgic flavors in an unexpected way. There is something so fun about reliving those memories that shaped who we are in a more sophisticated manner. From Dreamsicle to s'mores flavors, I've done it all in a way that feels more mature and modern while also pulling a little at the heartstrings.

My daddy is very much into blackberries so I kind of take after him. Blackberries are more unexpected than other berries during this season, and I love the depth of color and flavor it lends to my buttercream in this recipe for Blackberry Limeade Cupcakes. And citrus is always a wonderful pair with berries, so lime felt right.

I have to admit the cupcakes (and the riesling rhubarb crisp) sound amazing but her dress is absolutely stunning!!! Any chance you might be able to let us know where it's from? So flattering and the colors are amazing on her!
