Arguably, one of the best parts of summer is fire pits, campfires, bonfires—and cooking as many meals as possible over them, so that everything (your hair, your clothes, your cornbread) smells smoky and woodsy and impossibly good.
One of our editors has a dad who's cooked cheesecake and birthday cake and sourdough bread over fires (in a Dutch oven, of course), and more than one has experience cooking a full Thanksgiving-style turkey over a campfire. What do you think tastes best cooked over a fire—and what's your recipe? (We want to make it ourselves!)
We know we can't beat the classic s'more—but what else do you light a fire under? Kebabs? Fruit cobblers? Oysters? Sausages? A five-course meal? (We wouldn't doubt it for a second.)
