Every post that expressed dismay at the maltreatment of the goldfish has been removed. I realize that Zoe is an employee of Food 52, but that should not give her immunity from criticism. How can a reader share her feelings about this without having the post deleted? Me own comment was respectful and constructive but did not survive the censors knife. Thank you for clarifying this.

Hi Marilyn - We take our Code of Conduct (https://food52.com/code_conduct) seriously, and apply it equally across the board, to all commenters and all writers. The comments were removed not because they expressed concern for the goldfish, but because they all personally attacked the writer, and did not keep the conversation in the realm of respectful debate and constructive criticism.

I'm sorry about that Marilyn, I believe your comment was in a thread with other comments, and the way our system is set up, when the top comment is removed, the threaded comments below it are all automatically removed as well.

Beautiful, Zoe! Thanks for sharing part of your personal history. And your family photo! Amazing.
PS: Is dad the baby or the one in the middle? ;)

Thanks for sharing your delicious recipes with us, I love celebrating at equinox time, too, with a little ritual and special food. Where your dad grew up amongst the cherry trees sounds like a dream. Yes, spaces like that are being overtaken by population growth everywhere in the world. It was distressing to see large areas of farmland acreage turn into another housing subdivision when I lived and worked in the Chicago suburbs for 8 years. Now in the southern part of the state we live amongst the Shawnee Natl Forest, a beautiful place to be. Loved that you included the photo of your family around the dining room table, that's a scene everyone can relate to, and brings back special memories for us all.
Looking forward to trying some of the main dishes with rice, am not a baker put plan to save your bread and cookie recipes to share with friends. (Hopefullu I'll get to try those, too.) *Wink wink.
P.S. Persia is in my top 10 favorite beautiful sounding words.
